Adam has 20+ years of experience in the physical fitness field. After graduating from Ithaca College in 2003 with a degree in Exercise & Sports Sciences, he started his career at Equinox Fitness in NYC. After 7 months as a personal trainer, he was promoted to Fitness Manager, where he taught other physical trainers program design, anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics. While working at Equinox Adam became a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified Kettlebell Instructor.

Once Adam became a CSCS he looked to his love of baseball for his next career move. In 2005, he was hired by the Chicago White Sox, and served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in their minor leagues for seven seasons. Adam is proud to have worked with over two dozen players who have reached the Major League level.

In 2011, Adam went back to his original passion of helping people feel better about themselves through physical exercise. He has been leading personal and small groups in training ever since.  As a personal trainer, Adam creates programs designed specifically to his clients’ goals and capabilities, while managing any existing physical injuries. He has trained clients from age seven to age eighty-five and at all skill levels from novice to professional athlete.  He also works with sports teams to improve their athleticism and sports-specific lateral speed and agility.  Adam focuses on using the correct exercise modality for each of his clients to achieve maximal results while minimizing injury risk during the physical training process. He specializes in training clients who have preexisting injuries, are rehabbing from an injury, or have medical conditions.

Adam currently works at Shift Portland (www.shift-portland.com) and does in home training in the Portland area. Feel free to contact Adam if you’re looking for a personal trainer in Portland, Scarborough, Westbrook, or South Portland!

What is a personal trainer?

A personal trainer is a fitness professional who helps clients effectively and efficiently reach their health and fitness goals .  They will do so by creating an exercise program based on the client's abilities and limitations in relation to their goals.

A personal trainer helps keep clients accountable by encouraging them to strive forward, even if they may regress or hit a plateau.  A key to being a good personal trainer is listening to a client's needs and goals, and supporting them to move towards those goals.  A personal trainer has to be able to adjust their client's program on a daily basis after receiving feedback from the client on how they are feeling physically and mentally.
